4AD is a fine label. This much we know. Pixies, The Breeders, Cocteau Twins, Stereolab and oh so many more indie touchstones have passed through their doors, while the current roster stands up to just about any label you care to mention, especially so since they absorbed Beggar’s Banquet and Too Pure last year. So 2009 marks a pretty important year in the label’s history, and they are celebrating it by giving away free musics from the likes of Deerhunter, Future of the Left, The Mountain Goats and The Big Pink.
