
She’s playing Belfast and Dublin on February 11 and 12 respectively to promote her excellent debut album BiRd-BrAiNs, and now Merrill Garbus has released her very first music video, for the new single ‘Real Live Flesh’. Ham Sandwich (pictured), Patrick Kelleher, Sleep Thieves and Butterfly Explosion have all been confirmed for another Dublin benefit gig for the victims of the Haitian earthquake. Dubbed Haiti Aid, the event will feature 14 live bands, and take place across the city’s Whelan’s and The Village venues on the evening of Wednesday, February 3.
Tickets are priced at €20, available from ticketmaster.ie, tickets.ie, WAV box office, Citydiscs, and Road Records, and all funds raised will go towards the work of the Irish Red Cross.
For event organiser Ciara Buckley, Haiti held a special significance before the disaster. “I travelled to Haiti in 2005 to work with the street children there and my experiences of that time have stayed with me ever since. The earthquake has had a truly devastating impact on a country that is one of the poorest in the world. We hope that through Haiti Aid we can raise a significant amount of money which, through the Irish Red Cross, will help the thousands of people whose lives have been affected by the earthquake.”
