KVX – Dinner
15th June 2010

KVX are an all female five-piece hailing from Cork. After lurking around the underage scene for several years, clocking up supports with the likes of Fred and The Rumble Strips in the process, they have grown up and are ready to serve their new three-track EP Dinner. The first course begins with a catchy duelling guitar riff with the bass countering it impressively. When the vocals punch in it becomes clear that these girls can not only sing but also blend their voices perfectly. The added ambience of the violin completes this opening song magnificently. ‘Lights Out New Lantern’ again shows off the girls’ vocal ability with chilling harmonies while they rant aggressively about every girl’s problem…. boys. The final tracks hits you like a chocolate dessert – it’s heavy, tasty and all-round lovable. ‘Jump Ship’ adds glockenspiel to the already instrumentally diverse mix, proving that the KVX sound is one with many layers. There is a lot more to come from this band. Dave Murphy
