Earlier in the year, we (okay, I – Chris) spent a very enjoyable weekend in Aarhus, Denmark for the SPOT Festival – reviewed here and here. Amid a true smorgasbord (alright, so that’s Swedish…) of excellent Scandobands, several stood out, and they included hometown heroes Mimas.

The indie quartet played tracks from debut album The Worries and the splendid new record Lifejackets, including the magnificently named ‘La Moustache Formidable’ (‘The Amazing Moustache’ in French). Yes, there is a wacky streak to these guys but don’t let that put you off. They’re signed to the excellent Big Scary Monsters label for good reason – an incredibly endearing blend of good humour, jazz smarts and punk energy.
