Diagrams – Black Light

Having already released a debut EP under the Diagrams pseudonym this year, Sam Genders – formerly of folktronica pioneers Tunng – has already shown himself as a prolific songwriter and arranger. Carrying on slightly reworked versions of ‘Antelope’ and ‘Night All Night’ from his eponymous debut, with 7 new songs which present themselves as an altogether more upbeat collection of songs than his earlier work, with an increased electronic presence. The album’s title hints at its ambiguous lyrical content, often sending a mixed message (“I may not know you/But I may know you too well”). Diagrams has diversified his sound while maintaining the quirks that define him, and has delivered with his first full length LP. Stevie Lennox
