Red Bull launch Bedroom Jam campaign

With it being harder than ever to forge a career in the music industry, a campaign designed to help young Irish bands fulfill their potential and further their careers can only be a good thing. Entry is simple: If you’re a 17 years old+ Irish act (with at least one member under 26) then upload a video of your band to the competition website.

The six most popular acts (video views, comments, Twitter and Facebook activity) will be filmed live for the world to see, giving you a chance to boost your band’s profile and popularity. A further three will then be selected to play at some of Ireland’s biggest festivals, such as Sea Sessions and Glasgowbury. The final takes place next Autumn, where one band  will be selected to record for a week with a top producer in the Red Bull Studios, meaning it really is a glorious opportunity for young bands.

Irish rockers The Minutes (pictured) kicked off the campaign at the Workman’s Club on January 19, and other Irish bands will be playing Red Bull Bedroom Jam support gigs over the next couple of months, including an upcoming Rams’ Pocket Radio gig in Belfast.
