Having dedicated his services to The Dead Weather, Raconteurs and – of course – The White Stripes down the years, Jack White has released the lead single to be taken from his upcoming debut album, Blunderbuss. Whilst not hugely ambitious compared to some of his previous efforts, ‘Love Interruption’ is a promising, subliminally bluesy three-chorder featuring backing vocals from Nashville singer Ruby Amanfu, warm Wurlitzer keys and an acoustic guitar refrain that wouldn’t be out of place on Led Zeppelin III . And with heart-rending lines such as “I want love to stick a knife inside me and twist it all around” making up the chorus, one suspects White’s recent divorce may feature heavily on his first solo venture. Blunderbuss is out on 23 April on Third Man/XLL Recordings.
