As you are no doubt aware, there are few better record labels around than DFA Records. After helping to kick-start dance-punk with the early LCD Soundsystem and The Rapture stuff, the label lost its way a touch with Shocking Pinks and Prinzhorn Dance School, but lately they’ve been mining a rich seam of euphoric, Eighties-tinged disco and house with the likes of Hercules & Love Affair, The Juan MacLean, Walter Jones, Still Going and this lot, Holy Ghost! The New York duo announced their arrival in 2008 with the anthemic single ‘Hold On’ and followed it up last year with the sublime ‘I Will Come Back’ (click through to download, video below), but they are also carving out a reputation as remixers.
They’re a generous pair, too – over Christmas, they released a limited run of cassette mixtapes compiling their remixes, and now the entire thing is available to download for free. It features their take on tracks by Phoenix, Moby, MGMT, Datarock and Cut Copy among others, as well as a host of shout-outs from some famous names – A-Trak, Moby, Ghostface Killah (yes, really), DJ Mehdi… Tracklisting below – click here to download.
