Atlanta garage-rockers the Black Lips are definitely our favourite enemies of the Indian state, and they have some news for you. They’re putting out a split single with The Horrors’ Faris Badwan and his chum Cherish Kaya (under their Lumina alias) – the Lips contribute the song ‘Drugs’ from their 200 Million Thousand album, while Lumina cover the previous single, ‘I’ll Be With You’. The split single is out through Vice Records on August 24.
Meanwhile, the video for ‘Drugs’ has been posted online and you can see it below. The track is one of the band’s more measured efforts, all jangly and melodic, and it’s backed by some amusingly chopped up footage from anti-drugs public information films from the Seventies. Recoil as you discover how illicit substances may make you fall over; get really dizzy; be really shit at baseball; THEY MIGHT EVEN MAKE YOU BITE YOUR NAILS! Shocking stuff. Good tune, though.
