Komodo Image is a new business venture from Komodo Recordings, run by youngest brother Kyle Walker and based just a short drive from the Hillsborough studio. Ever keen to promote a complete package for the discerning band, Komodo Image provides a garment printing service, allowing bands to create their own clothing, whether it be for their own on-stage performances, or for marketing to their merchandise-hungry fans.
They also offer printing on clothing beyond the traditional T-shirt. Why not print your band’s name on a thong? “That’s one in particular that really gets attention when a girl buys it. You’d be surprised how many guys will flock to your merch desk to see a girl wearing one of those!” laughs Kyle’s brother Darrell of Komodo Recordings.
Merchandise doesn’t have to stop at clothing, with the printers offering items such as mouse mats, mugs and even clock faces. If you’ve got a logo, Komodo Imaging will make sure you find a place for it.
Komodo Imaging are the only business in the country to offer direct to garment printing, rather vinyl. It’s an unusual method, but Kyle is strongly in favour. “It looks a lot tidier than the angular vinyl printing that you often see, and yet we’re the only printers in the country that offer it as an option.”
If vinyl printing is your preferred method, Komodo Image are more than happy to carry it out, and Kyle sets himself a high quality standard when vinyl is chosen.
“Many T-shirt printers just leave your design in the same rectangular shape that it arrived in. We cut around the logo, in order to smooth it off. It makes the end product feel more like a t-shirt and less like you’re wearing body armour!”
On the soon to be launched Komodo Imaging website, a flash program called SpreadShirt let’s you design your T-shirts on a webpage, with fully customisable range of colours and fonts. This convenience increases the speed at which you can find the design that you have in mind.
There is also a quick turnaround due to the fact that Komodo maintain stock of their merchandise, meaning your materials won’t have to be ordered in. The benefit of this is that you can be waiting up to a week less for your project to be completed, leaving you to get on with the selling much faster.
