Watch Out!

And So I Watch You From Afar "totally psyched" about getting to work on new album

Fans of seismic post-rock, get thee down to Primark for some new underwear because before too long, you’re going to need it. Yes indeedy, the mighty And So I Watch You From Afar have confirmed that they are going into the studio next Monday (May 5) to start recording their debut album proper. No May Day in bed for these boys. Recording is to take place in Belfast’s Oh Yeah centre with Rocky O’Reilly of Oppenheimer, who recorded their ‘A Little Bit Of Solidarity Goes A Long Way’ for the recent Carling Presents: The Oh Yeah Sessions ‘08 album.

Speaking to AU, guitarist Tony Wright said, “The prospect of going into record the debut album has us all totally psyched, plus with a nice big fat juicy tour right after we finish in the studio, we’re a happy band to say the least! Not to mention how excited we are to be working with Rocky O’Reilly once more. So, as always, keeping as busy as humanly possible in the ASIWYFA camp, we fucking love it!!”

The Belfast-based four-piece recently released their mini-album, ‘This Is Our Machine And Nothing Can Stop It’, to rave reviews from both sides of the Irish Sea. They have been writing new material since October last year, testing it out on the road and in a series of shows closer to home, and the new album is expected to feature a mix of these and older material.

The band plays the Stiff Kitten in Belfast next Wednesday (May 7) with the similarly awesome LaFaro and Two Door Cinema Club. They then stop off in Dublin before heading back across the water for a full tour. Dates below:

May 16 - Dublin, Boom Boom Room (supporting Tracer AMC)
May 21 - Glasgow, Rockers
May 22 - Paisley, Paisley University
May 23 - Liverpool, Barfly
May 24 - Leeds, Royal Park Cellars
May 26 - London, Brixton Windmill
May 27 - Nottingham, The Maze
May 30 - Plymouth, Voodoo Lounge
