Future Of The Left have cancelled the three Irish dates they had booked for this weekend, months after their last set of dates over here were also pulled. The band had been due to play Dublin on Thursday 27th, Belfast on Friday 28th and Derry on Saturday 29th, but all appearances have been cancelled. The Derry gig, a Smalltown America all-dayer, goes ahead anyway with Jetplane Landing stepping in to headline.
In a statement, the band said that the cancellations were “totally unavoidable and due to some scheduling problems we’ve had recently” and have promised to make it up to ticket-holding fans by sending them a free CD of rarities – details of how to claim this are in the full statement below. The first time round, the promoters of the Belfast and Dublin gigs cancelled due to poor ticket sales, but this time it’s the band’s own doing. Quite what the “scheduling problems” are, we don’t know, but as their Myspace page shows them playing the Leeds Festival on Sunday 30th, we suspect they may have been added to the Reading and Leeds joint line-up at the last minute. We’ll bring you news of rescheduled dates when we get it.
The band’s statement is as follows:
“ irish shows announcement
To everyone who bought tickets for Dublin, Belfast and Derry this month.
We’re really sorry that we’ve had to postpone these Irish dates. Despite the ridiculously late notice it’s totally unavoidable and due to some scheduling problems we’ve had recently, and new shows will be booked in as soon as possible. By way of apology we’d like to offer everyone who bought advance tickets a free CD featuring some unreleased material, early tracks and demos which pre-date the first record. If you bought tickets online we will have your email address and will be contacting you soon, if you bought tickets in person, please send a mail to postmaster@cecmanagement.com stating where you bought your ticket, which show it was for and your email address.
Again, apologies, we hope this goes some way towards making up for any inconvenience caused – we hope to see you in Ireland soon.
falco”
