The winner of the 2009 Mercury Prize will be announced this evening at a ceremony in London, with highlights and the live announcement on BBC Two tonight at 10pm. Acts such as Micachu, Doves, White Lies, Little Boots and Future of the Left were passed over (if they indeed entered), while the previously nominated Bat For Lashes (pictured) is expected to battle it out with Florence and the Machine, Kasabian, Friendly Fires and the sole Irish nominee, Lisa Hannigan.
