Pete Doherty performs private show for £15,000

A wealthy US couple have paid Babyshambles’ frontman Pete Doherty £15,000 for an hour-long acoustic private concert in the singer’s rented house. Greg Thomas, a computer games tycoon from California, and his wife Cynthia flew to the UK especially for the gig. Doherty showed up seven hours late, while they waited in his front room. The gig had been scheduled to begin at 9pm but Doherty arrived at 4am. According to the Daily Mail, Doherty then performed in the front room of his house in Marlborough. After the show, Doherty said: “The gig went really well. It was really nice. I got to try out lots of new material. These people were real aficionados. They certainly know their stuff. Everything I played went down really well, from old songs all the way through to my new stuff which no one’s heard. They were a really nice couple as well. They’ve got three children and it was just nice all round, all for a bit of pocket money.”
