Sorry to get your hopes up there, Madchester fans. The band that launched baggy are re-releasing their self-titled debut album on August 10 to celebrate its 20-year anniversary, and plans have also been revealed for a series of single re-releases in the build up. Each of the band’s singles on the Silvertone label will be released on 7″ and download with original artwork, one a week, in the run-up to the album release. Also, in a slightly cynical effort to get it to Number One, ‘Fools Gold’ will get a CD release as well. Apparently there’s a Facebook group dedicated to getting it to the top spot – something the band never achieved in their lifetime – but since this information comes from their publicists, you’ll allow us a little cynicism. The first single in the series, Elephant Stone, comes with a box for collectors and five art prints by John Squire. More details below.
