Data Select Party - No Girls Allowed
This is a somewhat disappointing offering from Data Select Party. The twiddly guitar works and disco beats combination works well, it’s the kind of thing that’ll have people throwing shapes all over the place, but it’s the vocals that really let them down. It’s currently uber-cool to sing in your native lilt and DSP here attack with a string of random words such as ‘TREE HOUSE’, and ‘SLINGSHOT’ yelled in a London accent so strong you fear it will pick you up and throw you across a room. Shallow lyrics and unjust yelling mean that DSP don’t really engage you. There is hope yet, though, as the single’s B-side ‘You Should Know Bedda’ is certainly better than the lead track.
