Don’t listen to this song on the street or a public place because the piano led, easy-chant beginning of ‘Sunny Days’ sounds so fresh and upbeat you won’t be able to do anything but smile and craftily nod your head. Here, the Manchester quartet present themselves with a hook laden pop chorus and then link it with rapped verses. Kid British call themselves “hip-hop rudeboys with a penchant for jangle pop and indie rock” and, just like OutKast did, they are rewriting the do’s and don’t’s of pop music. They dare to take on any musical style, melting the parts down to create a sure fire radio hit.
They’re not trying to be witty or groundbreaking, they’re just four people converting the music they’ve always listened to and loved – Madness, Meat Puppets, The Beatles, Blur, De la Soul – into something personal, beautiful and still classic. Kid British are here to deliver breezy spunky tunes and certainly they couldn’t have chosen a better name for their first full single. Virginia Arroyo
