Pinback - Autumn of the Seraphs

Touch and Go

Pinback’s last offering ‘Summer In Abaddon’ was a perfect listener friendly record for sunny days – not party music but good for some relaxing and introspection. This, their fourth full length, carries on where that left off and is their most accessible release to date. Its mid-tempo style, moody guitar riffs, theatrical piano, hushed vocals and progressive over-lapping layers of music builds this up in a way that envelopes you, taking you over and you could easily find yourself off in a dream-world. Or literally asleep. Not in a bad way. This ain’t designed to rip your ears off or make you pay attention. Pinback aren’t intrusive, but if you’re kind enough to invite them in, you just might end up wanting them to stay forever.
