Plush - Fed
Broken Horse
Fed was originally released in 2002, but only in Japan. Six years later, here we are re-introduced to Liam Hayes’s Plush, one of those criminally underrated acts stuck in obscurity. Fed is the sophomore record, written under pressing demands but unfortunately shelved till now. It has its moments, but six years on it sounds dated, confusing minimalist pop with too many over-indulgent, choral accompaniments. Music has moved on from Plush. A re-release of this forgotten set is nice, but unnecessary. Fed proves Hayes has a great record in him, but six years on this isn’t it. A new album, that’s what he needs. Shain Shapiro
