The Bled - Silent Treatment

Vagrant

The Bled somehow ended up becoming Tuscon, Arizona’s post-hardcore heroes, despite originally forming the band to escape the place. Their debut ‘Pass The Flask’ was directly influenced by two monolithic, but completely different albums: namely Radiohead’s ‘The Bends’ and Converge’s ‘When Forever Comes Crashing’. ‘Silent Treatment’, their third album to date, offers up more of the trademark brutality of their metalcore pioneers whilst showcasing an openness to experiment and diverge (ha) away from the blueprint set out, so the two influences still hold firm. The vocals are raw and unreservedly hostile, as is the music itself – pure noise but with huge riffs, double-kicks a-plenty and there’s even some melody in there too. Don’t let the fact that Seth Cohen has a poster of The Bled on his wall put you off, this is vicious, heavy and a million miles away from the run-of-the-mill indie-rock on the OC soundtrack.
