The Jane Bradfords - The Jane Bradfords

Simple Tapestry

Straddling the divide between the Eighties electro-indie of New Order and such contemporary classics as Arcade Fire, The Jane Bradfords’ debut is a delight of firefighting synths, snappy guitar and beautifully detached vocal. Lyrically, a lovesick passion is threaded through the record, from ‘Ninety-Nine’ and ‘Golden Ticket’ to ‘Little Miss Sunshine’. The tunes, meanwhile, run the emotional gamut, songs such as the screamingly jaunty ‘Headache Pills’ finding a home alongside the sombre, Joy Division channelling ruminations of ‘Time To Drive’. They may show a whole lotta love for their influences, but The Jane Bradfords evidence enough wit and songwriting guile here to suggest they can become a musical force in their own right.
