The Minnows - The Wedding

A sweetly melancholic meditation on the one that got away, ‘The Wedding’ is the second single from The Minnows forthcoming new album. The bleary eyed nostalgia of the lyric is accompanied by a pristine pop melody, the music seemingly sympathetic to our narrator’s lovelorn musings. Eventually the gentle rhythms give way to the jilted guitars of the chorus and an echoing vocal that seems to be reaching out from the past, carrying with it a heart’s weight of pain and regret. The format is tweaked somewhat on the accompanying ‘Homestead Mix’ of the song, however, it is the enticing pop-rock B-side ‘Another Day In My Life’ which really snares the ear’s attention, intimate details lent an epic sheen, the songwriting deceptively simple and effortlessly accomplished.
