At 22 tracks over 74 minutes and featuring an endless array of guests including Gavin Clark, Josh Homme and Black Mountain, End Titles… Stories For Film is the sound of James Lavelle and Pablo Clements stretching their ambitions to the max. As the title suggests, it is an album of work inspired by the moving image, which at times works well but can also prove to be quite hard going. The thrilling philharmonic bombast of ‘Trouble In Paradise’ is a far cry from UNKLE’s Mo’ Wax heyday, as is Abel Ferrara’s meagre Dylan impression ‘Open Up Your Eyes’, but with the dark electro stomp of ‘Ghosts’ and Josh Homme’s brooding ‘Chemical’, there are the makings of a fine gothic rock album.
